Pat Heathcote - Successful ICT Projects in Access
Our top recommendation, particularly if you're doing your Project in Access, but it's useful anyway for all the helpful general advice on projects. The first few chapters work through creating a sample database, and you can download the database as it should be at the start of each chapter from the Payne-Gallway website. Could be useful in the first year if the structured tasks involve using a database.

Julian Mott and Ian Rendel - Database Projects in Access for advanced Level
Evcellent practical text, full of explanations and useful ideas and hints, pitched at the right level.
I bought myself a copy of this, and left it in my classroom - it has proven so popular that I have added some copies to the department libary, for A-Level students to use.
Some of my students have understod techniques from here, where they have not understood the same practice in otrher books.
This book also links practical use of Access with database theory.

Pat Heathcote - Successful ICT Projects in Word
You're unlikely to do your computing project in word, but you might use word to write it up. We all know how to do the basics in Word, but how many of us can do the advanced stuff? Try to persuade your teacher to get a copy or two for the school library.

Pat Heathcote - Successful ICT Projects in Excel
This book is less successful than the Heathcote Access book, but still useful if you're using Excel for your project, or part of it. Could also be useful in getting to grips with Excel for the Structured Tasks in the first year.
