Computing - Practical Books

cover Successful ICT Projects in Access
Our top recommendation, particularly if you're doing your Project in Access, but it's useful anyway for all the helpful general advice on projects. The first few chapters work through creating a sample database, and you can download the database as it should be at the start of each chapter from the Payne-Gallway website. Could be useful in the first year if the structured tasks involve using a database.
cover Database Projects in Access for Advanced Level
Another highly recommended guide to doing projects in Access.
cover Successful ICT Projects in Excel
These book is less successful than the Access one, but still useful if you're using Excel for your project, or part of it. Could also be useful in getting to grips with Excel for the Structured Tasks in the first year.

By the authors of the Access book above.
cover Successful ICT Projects in Word
You're unlikely to do your computing project in word, but you might use word to write it up. We all know how to do the basics in Word, but how many of us can do the advanced stuff? Try to persuade your teacher to get a copy or two for the school library.
cover Tackling Computer Projects in Access with Visual Basic
A bit out of date now, but still a useful book if you can find it.
cover Information Systems for You: Skillbuilder
This book is intended for GCSE level, and is an excellent introduction to the main Office programs.
